Claregalway GAA Club Notes - Week Commencing Monday September 21st 2015

Claregalway opened their U15 Boys League with a hard one point victory over Moycullen on September 1th. Under pressure from the throw in Claregalway slowly grew in to the game and finished the 1st half strongly to go in at half time down by one point (2-4to 2-3).

The 2nd half was an even affair with the Claregalway boys starting to take control around the middle third.  Daniel Prior scored the decisive goal to leave the final score Claregalway 3-8 Moycullen 2-10.

Our U11 team won the shield competition hosted by Clann na nGael on September 12th

I’ve attached 2 photos of the U7 team on Sunday 13/9 in their new jerseys sponsored by Dawnlough Ltd will be sponsoring our U7 team. We are grateful to the company for their sponsorship.

Congratulations to our Juvenile teams who played on Sunday.  A terrible wet morning, but it did not put our young men off.

In Knockdoemore grounds Our U9s played Oranmore Maree in a challenge game. Great to see their progress as they go through the years and a credit to their coaches.  Our three U12 Teams played in somewhat better weather as each team played against Kilkerrerin, Dunmore and Tuam Stars in League matches.  All three teams coming out on top.

Our U15 played in Lakeview grounds, against Oranmore Maree winning by three points.  Final score 3-9 Claregalway 3-4 to Oranmore Maree. Well done to all our members, opponents and mentors.

A fantastic few days for the U14 Ladies Squad was had. On Monday evening the Gold team travelled to Monivea to play the League Winners. In a very tight first 15 minutes the Girls came to terms with their bigger and stronger opponents and from that point on right until the end they got the better of the Monivea Girls to run out convincing winners. Great teamwork all over the field. On Tuesday evening the U14Green team welcomed the All-Ireland Feile and League winning Kilkerrin/Clonberne to Knockdoemore. In a finely balanced match the visitors took a three point lead in at half-time..At the break it was obvious that the girls were up for the challenge. In a second half display of pure guts, determination and absolute teamwork the Claregalway Girls ran out winners on a final scoreline of Claregalway 6-11 Kilkerrin/Clonberne 4-12. Well done to all involved. Next  up for the Green team is Tuam/Cortoon

Finally on Saturday morning the U14 Gold played Michael Breathnachs in the last group Game. It took the Girls a while to get to terms with their bigger and stronger opponents, but once they did, they out played them with some great passing movements and a lot of timely scores. The U14 Gold Squad have now qualified for the County Final. Congratulations to our Minor Ladies who won the County Final on Saturday Evening and to the U12A squad who have reached the County Final Also. Well done to all involved
