Claregalway GAA Club Notes - Week Commencing Monday July 27th 2015
What a great evening was had on Thursday, 23rd July, 2015 in Knockdoemore Park with the Galway Ladies and the Galway Senior Men’s team!
Our Galway Ladies got training earlier than expected and it was so nice to have them all at our training grounds.
For the Galway Senior Men’s Team well what can we say. Your warm up was enough to make us on the side line exhausted. A terrific display of dedication, enthusiasm and hard work at being the best.
We want you to know that we appreciate what you do on the field. It gives us all so much enjoyment, excitement and encouragement for all our players.
Thank you for taking the time with our young members. All the autographs you signed and photos you took part in.
Best of luck next week in Croke Park against Donegal in the all-Ireland qualifier. We will be shouting for you all every step in the way both in Croke Park and from home.
Gaillimh abú!
To all our wonderful supporters we would like to update and inform you that the Sports Capital grant of €132,000 for Claregalway GAA facilities in Kockdoemore Park is coming on stream and we have been approved to use it to do the following
- Turn Pitch 2 into a winter training pitch complete drainage system installed
- Provide flood lighting on this pitch
- Continue and complete walkway around this pitch and join up to existing sections
- Layout and seed Pitch No 3 (the one in the middle)
- Associated minor works e.g. cabling etc. associated with all of above
In order to draw down this grant we need to have back up funds of approximately. €40,000. Following a large meeting of club members in the new centre at Knockdoemore it was decided to make every effort to gather these funds in the coming couple of months so as not to lose the €132,000 as it was considered a once in lifetime opportunity to avail of this level of funding awarded.
The following new initiatives have been proposed, football camps, Club 5K event, Cycle event and white collar boxing. Details of first event are below;
- Football camps to be held in August for ages 6-12 in Claregalway GAA Knockdoemore grounds, Claregalway: Dates 17th - 21st August
- Football camps in Claregalway GAA Lakeview grounds, Claregalway: ages 13 to and including 15 Again dates 17th to 19th August
For details contact Margaret Kearney 087 2044158
Other ideas are all welcome and we meet on Tuesdays in clubhouse, Lakeview at 9 pm to review.
